True Yoga is our friendly, community-oriented yoga + wellness studio. We offer a variety of classes, groups and workshops for all levels and body types with an emphasis on mindfulness, mind-body connection and integrative wellness to provide accessible education + interventions that work to our community.

Yoga Classes

Our yoga classes are open for anyone to join as a helpful and less invasive way to deepen your mind-body connection and your personal wellness journey or to compliment previously-established routines including strength training or an active therapy regimen.

Workshops & Groups

We offer a variety of workshops and groups regularly and per our member’s demands to address and educate about specific concerns and provide additional support where it’s needed. Topics may include mental health or personal wellness, nutrition, and physical activity.

Consultation + Resources

Our members receive the benefits of complimentary clinical consultation and brief screenings to point them in the right direction for help and linking to community resources in and out of our office.

The social support our members get from our other members has also known to be a healing resource for many.

Group Classes We Offer:

a therapist facilitated, semi-structured support group for the local strong, independent woman that incorporates discussion around topics from assigned reading. Book is chosen based on group need/demand among recommended literature in the mental health field. Mondays 5:45pm (Sydney)

an experiential group focused on education and practice of mindfulness interventions that can be used and built upon for coping skills and managing anxiety, ADHD, depression and otherwise cultivating joy and a mindful way of living for greater inner peace, emotion regulation and mental clarity. Each week we practice or revisit a different type of mindful intervention for mindful moments. A small amount of physical activity and also outdoor time may be required. Tuesdays 5:45pm (Sydney)

As stress can manifest itself both physically and mentally, this group incorporates yoga postures, gentle movement sequences, breath work, supported silent meditation, and guided relaxation to support increased awareness and mindfulness of the breath and body while promoting and nurturing nervous system regulation. This class is perfect for any and all levels, including beginners, and can opt as your weekly support for mind-body wellness. Wednesday and Thursday 4pm (Rhena)

We’re available to be booked for corporate wellness/mindfulness/yoga talks & experiences.

What do I need to know before attending a class?

Registration

There is no pre-registration! Simply view the schedule, and come in to the desired class! Classes are $15 per a class. You can drop in and pay in person via cash or credit card.

Eating Before a Class

We advise that you do not attend class on a full stomach. Try to eat at least 2 hours before your class or keep the meal light.

What to Wear

We advise wearing comfortable clothing that allows for free movement.

Personal Items

Lockers and storage are available for storage of any personal items. Please stow away cell phones and electronic devices and turn on silent.

Stay Present

Remember to stay present and open, resist making judgments of self and others, listen to your body, and focus on your own practice!

Non-Judgemental Environment

Once you step through our doors, we ask that you help us preserve our accepting and judgment-free studio environment through the practicing of non-judgment, resisting the urge to judge and label self or others, as according to classic yogic principles.

Bring a Mat for the Yoga for Stress Class

We advise bringing your own yoga mat and we also have some available for member and first-timer's use. Book Club and Mindful Moments classes do not need a mat.

No Harassment

Please be advised that any harassment of any kind will not be tolerated under any circumstances. True Yoga has security measures in place for the protection of our guests and staff. All products and services are non-refundable.

Meet Your Instructors

Sydney Wasdin, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, RYT

Sydney is our practice owner and wears many hats in our office. A Baldwin County native and Bayside Academy Alumna, she first graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelors in Psychology, a Bachelors in French, and her 200-hour Yoga Instructor Certification during which time she worked several research labs and settings. She went on to earn her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Auburn University in 2018. Her time at Auburn allowed her to start out her career experience working in correctional and inpatient settings working with adolescents and adults experiencing Severe Mental Illness (SMI). She then completed a post-graduate fellowship at a large, independent school in Atlanta, GA providing counseling and crisis intervention to gifted adolescents and assisting with health and wellness programming before moving back home to pursue building our private practice and supporting her local community.

She is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (#LPC04694), a National Board Certified Counselor (#1093526) and a yoga instructor pursuing certification as a yoga-therapist with an IAYT-approved program. She enjoys seeing her clients during the day and facilitating groups and yoga classes within the studio.

In practice, she often utilizes trauma-informed and mindfulness-based approaches along with cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, psychoeducation with motivational interviewing, and attachment theory. She specializes in working with motivated adolescents and young adults navigate through life transitions, anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma.

No, not at this time. However, please note that our current space is open to the beautiful outdoors so the temperature may vary depending on the weather.

Yoga is for everyone. Our studio is an inclusive and intimidation-free space, so first time yogis are a perfect fit! We welcome beginners with open arms and have heard our beginner friendly classes are the perfect place to start your yoga journey judgment free!
